The wait is finally over. I think I’ve teased you enough about my gorgeous green apple KitchenAid Artisan Series Stand Mixer. You’ve seen it, you’ve wiped the saliva from the corner of your mouth as you’ve gazed at it’s beauty. I understand completely. Why? Because I’ve coveted this mixer for so long myself. I don’t even want to show you what I was using in its place to bake. Let’s just say it was less than $20 and leave it at that. So of course I feel like I am the girl who got upgraded from the pinto to the corvette. And let me tell you, there is no going back. I don’t know how I survived this long without it!

KitchenAid Artisan® Series model has a 325-watt motor, 5 quart stainless steel bowl with ergonomic handle, pouring shield and a tilt-back mixer head design that provides easy access to bowl and beaters.

Features:

  • 10-Speed Solid-State Control
  • Includes Flat Beater, Dough Hook and Wire Whip
  • Power Hub for Additional Attachments
  • Unique Mixing Action

Of course upon receipt I couldn’t resist setting it up to be displayed upon my counter top. I’ll be the first to admit that this thing is big. And one drawback is that it is certainly not light at almost 23 lbs. But what I will say is that it looks like a piece of art sitting out on the counter. So I’ve made room and ditched the bread box for a basket and found a way to make it work. And now I get to gaze at it right now actually since I’ve got a clear view from my usual spot on the dining room table. Are you green with envy? I think I’m jealous of myself.

Now what would I be with a mixer that was just a piece of art, to be displayed but never used? Not my mother’s child to be certain. Anyone who knows my mother knows I’ve been spoiled by and learned from the best. I grew up with some absolutely delectable baked good available at all times. My mother who has a cupboard overflowing with cookbooks and uses them as her regular fun reading material because she adores constantly trying new recipes. My mother who insisted on making Christmas baking an entire weekend experience as together with my sister we made a dozen or different things at least. So of course I needed to break my new mixer in and bake, bake and bake some more!

I made a pound cake. Which was a brilliant choice since it requires a lot of mixing.KitchenAid Pound Cake 1But mixing for a few minutes really is no big deal.

(Which really means I get to stand and watch it do all the work.)KitchenAid Pound Cake 3And this was the end result. Need I say more?Wilton Dimensions Perinnial Cake Pan FinalI of course had to tackle some cookies too so I opted for sugar cookies.KitchenAid Sugar Cookie 1What a breeze these were!KitchenAid Sugar Cookie 2It doesn’t get any easier than this!KitchenAid Sugar Cookie 3Yummy!Wilton Sugar Cookies Finished ProductI just had to try working with cream cheese. If all these pictures is just leaving you unsatisfied, I’ve created a short video so you can get a real feel for a KitchenAid Stand Mixer in action.

Don’t forget to see the dough hook’s capabilities in my first run with making homemade bread post.  Be sure to watch for my next KitchenAid review and giveaway which will feature one of the many attachments available. Now it is time to just gaze at only a few of the colors available. Want to win it? Because I see no better way to end the giveaways from our Spring into Spring event than with a KitchenAid mixer!

  2. Hi there!! First of all, although my heart belongs to Martha Stewart Blue, it is not available from the Kitchenaid website so my favorite color there is ICE BLUE! I’ve never had a stand mixer, just stood there in amazement at the displays of them in stores but I would give anything to win one and see a gorgeous Ice Blue Kitchenaid sitting on my kitchen counter.

My all time favorite kitchen memory doesn’t involve a stand mixer but I love it nonetheless. A few years ago on Thanksgiving, my family and I had been up since dawn getting everything ready for all of our friends and family to come over for dinner later that day. We had the turkey in the oven, sides bubbling on the stove, bread rising on the counter. All of a sudden, a giant storm blew through our area- high winds, thunder, lightening…the whole nine yards. Unfortunately a tree branch fell off the tree out front and knocked the power transformer off, leaving us with no power. Undaunted and determined to put dinner on the table, my dad called our neighbor, who came and plugged in a gas-powered generator for us, supplying enough power that we could juuuuussttt barely finish dinner in time for everyone to arrive. That Thanksgiving was the first time we had had dinner with everyone at the house without the football game going in the background. We had so much fun though, in a house lit with candles that I really doubt that anyone noticed!
