We came home with our beautiful new baby girl just two weeks ago. It’s been quite the transition having not had an infant at home for six years. I was expecting the sleepless nights but forgot some of what it’s like to juggle simple tasks with a newborn. On my first solo day home I went to take a shower and hooked up our thirteen year old baby monitor only to discover what had worked just a few months ago was now broken. I’ve never used a video monitor and was excited at the idea of not only being able to hear, but to see my baby as she sleeps using the new Levana Ayden video monitor. It’s truly a relief to have this monitor for that extra sense of awareness when it comes to my baby’s safety.
I snuggled up my daughter in her swing for a nap and was able to sneak away for a much needed shower.
With the Levana Ayden video monitor parent unit only a few feet from the shower, I could hear and see any concerns with baby and enjoy my shower instead of rushing through. Even with the loud running water I could see baby on the monitor and the color changing light of the smart LED indicator ring (around the arrow buttons) let me know if baby was waking with each color representing how loud baby is. Both the monitor and camera have batteries or a power cord making it easy to take it where you need to.
She slept soundly while I got ready for the day and I could carry the monitor to the bedroom with me to get dressed. Of course this also is a great option at night when baby is in his/her own room. Right now we have a bassinet in our bedroom so we don’t need a monitor to know when she wakes. We did use it recently to communicate during nighttime feedings though. After a few nights using our monitor the only draw backs I could find were the brightness of the video screen which made it hard to sleep. It would be great if I could adjust this. This could be somewhat avoided by turning on Peep mode so it only turned on when baby made a noise. I’d also love the ability to turn the video screen off completely and only use the voice features if I wanted to.
