School days are right around the corner. That means morning breakfast before the bus, lunch box sandwiches, and after school snacks. Why not add a little fun to the day and make something fun and memorable with your kids? I’ve been asked to participate in and share information with you about the ® Sandwich Art Photo Contest! Check out my “Morning Monsters” below.

I decided to create “Morning Monsters” for my daughter’s before the bus breakfast or after school snack. These open-face sandwich creations turned out to be a fun activity to do together as well. I hope you enjoy them with your little ones.

INGREDIENTS:

• ® Honey Wheat and Whole Wheat bread
• Peanut butter
• Hazelnut spread
• Strawberry cream cheese spread
• Bananas, strawberries, raspberries
• Almonds (slivered and whole)
• Raisins
• Vanilla wafer cookies
• Chocolate chips

Whether you toast your Nature’s Harvest® Honey Wheat and Whole Wheat bread or leave it soft, it’s the first step to create this adorable snack. Choose the sandwich spread of your choice; peanut butter, hazelnut spread, or strawberry cream cheese. This happy monster features the following ingredients: Nature’s Harvest® Honey Wheat bread, strawberry cream cheese, strawberry slices, raisins, an almond and chocolate chips.

Cut a mouth shape in the bread. Will you make a happy monster? Sad? Scary? This scary monster features the following ingredients: Nature’s Harvest® Honey Wheat bread, hazelnut spread, slivered almonds, a strawberry slice, a vanilla wafer cookie, a banana slice and a raisin.

Prepare your monster face ingredients ahead of time and let your child help create your masterpiece. What will you use for the eyes, nose and mouth? Add eye brows for added emotion. Play with layering ingredients to make fun eyes with expression. This scary monster features the following ingredients: Nature’s Harvest® Whole Wheat bread, peanut butter, banana slices, raisins, slivered almonds and a raspberry.

Enjoy this hands-on, creative way to incorporate some protein and fruit into your child’s sandwich and start the school year off with some fun. My six-year-old daughter begs to make these now.

Nature’s Harvest® Sandwich Art Photo Contest

Nature’s Harvest bread is celebrating the new school year with the launch of the “Nature’s Harvest Sandwich Art Photo Contest” by encouraging moms to have a little whole grain fun with their kids’ lunch boxes. From August 24, 2015 to September 6, 2015, parents can visit the Nature’s Harvest Bread Facebook page to submit a photo of their sandwich art creations, using Nature’s Harvest bread, for the chance to win fun prizes!

Grand Prize:

A “Kitchen Crash” from Celebrity Chef and contest judge, Kelsey Nixon.

4 finalists will also receive a Crayola Back to School Kit.

Criteria

Kelsey will be judging the top 10 Semi-Finalist entries based on:

• Visual appeal
• Creativity
• Incorporation of nutritious ingredients

Online Voting Period

The top 10 Semi-Finalist entries will also be posted to the Nature’s Harvest Bread Facebook page for consumer online voting from September 14, 2015-September 20, 2015. See the official contest rules for more info.

We’ve given our daughter whole grain bread since she was little. She had no trouble trying both the whole and honey wheat varieties.

Each variety of Nature’s Harvest® bread is baked with at least 8 grams of whole grains per serving, no artificial flavors or colors and no high fructose corn syrup.

I found each variety of Nature’s Harvest® at my local Target store. We all liked both the whole wheat and the honey wheat bread. I’d buy this for my family again.
