I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama’s blog and support her and her family during this difficult time.
Lucian did not get yet another bloody nose at daycare on Thursday and then again on Friday and again on Saturday. We do not have a routine down now where he holds his own tissue to his nose because he starts failing like a bird, flapping his wings to get you away, resulting in many little scratches on his face. He does not look like he got in a cat fight, which might be fitting since he still thinks he is a kitty. Meeeoow!
This past Friday I did not have a similar experience to this. Lucian did not wake up with a 102 fever and a bad cough. His daddy did not decide to stay home since it was his turn. On my way out the door I did not bend down to give Lucian a big hug only to end up with vomit all down the side of my jacket from a hard cough. Nope, that didn’t happen to me again. I was not then thankful that his aim was for the arm and shoulder on the opposite side of my purse. I could be thankful for that.
Lucian upon realizing that his white blanket had dried blood on it, he did not point and ask what it was. I didn’t explain that it was blood and needed to be washed. Lucian did not then suggest that I go get his blankie a Kleenex. (Oh, if it were only that easy!)
After waking up to Lucian having a coughing fit early Sunday morning (4:00 am) on our baby monitor, I did not wait a bit before getting up to check on him. I did not make the mistake of assuming that because he stopped coughing that everything was ok and did not actually open his door. I did not tell myself that if I go into his room and he doesn’t really need me that he will get up. So I did not selfishly go back to bed and get up a couple hours later to find he had slept with VOMIT on all over his mattress and pillow. Oh I couldn’t have done that because that is just too sad and gross. I can’t even imagine my little guy sleeping next to a pillow of vomit. I can’t fathom this so maybe I will pretend it didn’t happen. If it did, I wouldn’t be thankful that I have a horrible head cold and can’t smell anything anyway. That would have made the cleanup that much easier, as long as I ignored the body aches, running nose, head pressure and cough that went along with it. (I am sooooo sorry Lucian!)
Warren did not decide he wanted to get in on the bodily fluid fun and right before getting into the bath Sunday morning (to clean Lucian up) he didn’t pee all over our hardwood floors. He then did not decide to make things more interesting by pooping in the bathtub as well. If he did I suppose I’d have to just shake my head, chuckle and say, it figures! Perfect timing Warren!
I am thankful to Lucian for giving me so much great material this past week. So much that I’ve saved some for next week!
Hey mama! Don’t beat yourself up too much about not going into the room after Lucian had a coughing fit (which turned out to be vomit). My little one (Collin) did the same thing a few months back! I could not believe he went back to sleep after vomiting all over himself and on his pillow! My little guy will wet through his diaper, his jammie, AND both sheets and then go right back to sleep for 4 more hours too without making a peep. I am dreading potty training for this reason (he’s such a heavy sleeper).
I’m sorry you had such a rough couple of days! I hope your week gets better!
Wow it sounds like you DIDN”T have a rough week. I hope things get better for you and your little ones
