While lime gelatin was used for this green punch, you can use this same recipe for different party themes using various flavors of Jello. (See how I served this for a Halloween punch.) It’s very versatile and will result in a bright and colorful punch.

Recipe Ingredients
To make this simple Grinch punch, you’ll need the following ingredients:
- lime Jello
- pineapple juice (chilled)
- lemon-lime soda (chilled)
- water (boiling water and cold water)
- heart sprinkles (optional)
- light corn syrup (optional)
I used Sprite but 7-Up, Starry or any store brand is fine. I do highly recommend chilling your soda and pineapple juice because of the nature of the punch. It is meant to be served right away after preparing it and since boiling water is used to melt the lime gelatin, you’ll want the other ingredients to be cold.

The heart sprinkles are optional and are used strictly for decoration, but I feel it really fits the grinch party theme well. You can find lots of different heart sprinkles on Amazon. I would choose the flat sprinkles as shown here because the thicker, rounded hearts will mostly likely be too heavy.
To attach the hearts, you’ll need light corn syrup or you can use a little melted white chocolate or frosting as a substitute. It just needs to be something edible that can get sticky and harden to the glass.

Because The Grinch is a timeless tale, I thought vintage punch cups from the time period of when How The Grinch Stole Christmas! by Dr. Seuss was published would be fitting. I got out my Federal Glass Colonial Yorktown Punch Bowl and Cups. The thumbprint style works well with the theme and I’ll use any excuse to use this gorgeous set.
How to Add Grinch Hearts to Cups
Adding hearts to the cups is an easy process. Using a toothpick, dab a bit of light corn syrup to the back of a heart sprinkle and attach to the side of your plastic or glass punch cup.

Press down slightly. Place your cup on its side until it is dry or your hearts may slide down a bit. Wash in warm water to remove.

How to Make Grinch Punch
Making Grinch Punch is easy!! Place your lime gelatin in a large punch bowl. Pour boiling water over the top.

Whisk until fully dissolved. This may take a couple of minutes.

Add in cold water and cold pineapple juice. Stir to combine.

Pour in Sprite or other lemon-lime soda.

Serve immediately with your heart punch cups.

Does Jello Punch Thicken?
That depends. If left at room temperature, the answer is no. This lime jello punch is meant to be enjoyed after you prepare it, without being refrigerated. However, if you store leftovers in the fridge, it does thicken a bit. It is still drinkable but the texture might not be appealing for some. My kids thought it was awesome and loved it both ways!

I like to serve with candy canes on the side for a fun holiday garnish. This drink is so simple but very flavorful and the bright green color works so well for an easy Christmas punch.

Do I have to add hearts on the glass?
If you are short on time or simply don’t like the look, you don’t have to add the sprinkle heart. It is optional. (I personally love it.) Alternatively, you could add a small red sticker and achieve a similar affect. Either way, this is a fun and festive holiday punch that can be served as a Christmas green punch instead of a Grinch drink.
