My three-year-old son was having some mysterious symptoms. His doctor wanted to send him to a series of specialists. I didn’t hesitate to go back to the same children’s hospital that saved my now 11-year-old son’s life.

What we didn’t anticipate was the day before our scheduled departure he complained of his arm hurting. Urgent care thought he dislocated his elbow but unfortunately, their attempts to fix it failed. We discovered there was a three-day wait to see a specialist so we had to make the four-hour drive with our son in excruciating pain.

The children’s hospital went above and beyond for us. His doctor immediately started calling to get him in to see a specialist for his elbow. Turns out his elbow was broken and not dislocated. We learned one of my son’s mysterious symptoms most likely caused the break. Slowly we’re learning pieces of his puzzle as we work closely with the hospital to discover more about our special needs child.jax-following-the-dog

I’ve learned motherhood is a journey with each of us having different stories to tell. But we all want the best for our children. Women’s Choice Award recognizes this and empowers us by researching children’s hospitals around the country using its one-of-a-kind Best Hospitals Award Methodology. Having a respected resource to turn to offers families peace of mind if a children’s hospital is ever needed. It doesn’t surprise me that the hospital that has been working so hard to help my son has made the list!

  10. Where I reside there are only two hospitals to choose from and have found that there are some great doctors as well as not so great doctors throughout the years. I am so glad that your son is well and that these doctors got to the root of the problem. Great post!
