Last month, Wesley turned 3 years old. I can’t believe my little guy has gotten so big. We’ve been working on potty training the past few weeks. It certainly is an exciting milestone and one I can’t wait for him to master. I admit the idea of not having anyone in diapers is a bit exciting. He had been showing signs of readiness, especially with #2. He hasn’t wanted to have a poopy diaper so he’s been doing all his business of that nature in the toilet without much prompting! Feels like a total win for me.
Unfortunately, going pee on the potty every time hasn’t been quite as successful. We’ve been going through underwear and pants left and right. Even though we’ve been using a ton of positive reinforcement and plenty of bathroom trips, Wesley has a tendency to dribble. So even on those times that he does make it, his underwear is still getting wet. And while he can go a couple of hours without needing a bathroom break, sometimes he needs to go every 20 minutes or so. It is really hard to anticipate that and he is still learning those cues himself.
I want this to be a positive journey for Wesley, and that is why I really appreciate training pants such as Pampers Easy Ups. They’ve been great for overnight and for outings when I know we can’t get to a bathroom as quickly. They can really help the diaper-to-underwear transition by allowing potty-training toddlers to set aside their diapers and wear something with more of an underwear-like design that still helps keep accidental messes off clothing, bedding and other surfaces no matter whether they happen at home, on-the-go or overnight. I know Wesley at first resisted giving up diapers and made the transition to training pants much easier. I think he just need something more familiar than regular underwear. My favorite tip is to never force it. And to remember that they will eventually get it 😉
We are working on potty training now. My 3 year old is very stubborn.
So many awesome products! A few of my tips include be very patient and also get a reward system going. Patience is key with potty training just like anything else. A reward system is great because it encourages them to go potty and it motivates them!
My sister actually plans on potty training my niece soon. I know my mom has said that potty training her girls was a lot easier than potty training my brothers… the reward system seemed to help with them though!
My favorite tips is to remind them often and to make a big fuss when they are successful.

Let them learn at their own pace.
Don’t rush them into it and buy pull ups for night time for the first few weeks!
Using stickers as rewards really helped us.

I don’t have any great tips. I would say they go when they are ready.
We had success with the boys having them aim for targets, like Cheerios and Fruit Loops, to turn training into a fun game, not a scary change!
My tip is to be persistent. Ask them often if they have to use the potty.
No kids. My tip would be to have patience.
