Last month, Wesley turned 3 years old. I can’t believe my little guy has gotten so big. We’ve been working on potty training the past few weeks. It certainly is an exciting milestone and one I can’t wait for him to master. I admit the idea of not having anyone in diapers is a bit exciting. He had been showing signs of readiness, especially with #2. He hasn’t wanted to have a poopy diaper so he’s been doing all his business of that nature in the toilet without much prompting! Feels like a total win for me.
Unfortunately, going pee on the potty every time hasn’t been quite as successful. We’ve been going through underwear and pants left and right. Even though we’ve been using a ton of positive reinforcement and plenty of bathroom trips, Wesley has a tendency to dribble. So even on those times that he does make it, his underwear is still getting wet. And while he can go a couple of hours without needing a bathroom break, sometimes he needs to go every 20 minutes or so. It is really hard to anticipate that and he is still learning those cues himself.
I want this to be a positive journey for Wesley, and that is why I really appreciate training pants such as Pampers Easy Ups. They’ve been great for overnight and for outings when I know we can’t get to a bathroom as quickly. They can really help the diaper-to-underwear transition by allowing potty-training toddlers to set aside their diapers and wear something with more of an underwear-like design that still helps keep accidental messes off clothing, bedding and other surfaces no matter whether they happen at home, on-the-go or overnight. I know Wesley at first resisted giving up diapers and made the transition to training pants much easier. I think he just need something more familiar than regular underwear. He also loves that his Pampers Easy Ups feature Thomas the Train.

My advice would be to have lots of patience with mistakes and offer plenty of praise for success.

Don’t give into the pressure you may feel from outside sources to get your kid potty trained before he/she is ready. If they are not ready, you are in for a world of pain and frustration and it will inevitably take much longer than it would have had you waited.
My daughter was late to train. She was 3 1/2 but once we started she got the hang of it!
I like putting my daughter on the potty first thing in the morning and before bed to get them trained into going them

Patience end encouragement. My girl is a newborn I am thinking starting around 2 or whenever she shows interest.
Bribe. And also, wine. Can I say that as a tip? Haha.
Positive reinforcement, avoid punishments and understand even after they get it, accidents will still happen.

I made it fun, relaxed, and took comfort in the fact that they probably would not be going to kindergarten in diapers!

My tip is to wait until your child shows signs that he is ready; there is no sense in starting too soon, you are only going to frustrate yourself and your child.
I started potty training my kids around 26 months old.
I plan to start at age 2.
My favorite tip is to let them lead and show you when they are ready to start potty training. I learned the hard way that if you push them before they are ready, both of you will wind up VERY frustrated!
