8 Great Gifts for Baby’s First Year

We’re expecting another miracle baby any day now. It’s been a long nine months in some ways and in others it’s seemed to have flown by. Our other daughter is turning six soon and we got rid of nearly all of our baby things several years ago. It’s amazing what you forget in six years! It’s been fun to see what new baby items have been developed since our last. I was asked to share some of my thoughts on these new products. 4) Moon Cocoon: I was excited to see this new sleep sack design by Nini and Pumpkin. This sleep sack comes with a detachable bottom portion for easy nighttime changing or if baby has a mess. Simply zip off the bottom and change baby’s diaper and replace with a clean one. The bottom portion can also be unzipped fully to be used as a blanket. Although this one is a bit more expensive it grows with your child providing years of use and eliminates the need to purchase in several sizes.

5) Hannah Pastel 7-Piece Diaper Bag Set: There’s nothing quite as nice as a fully equipped diaper bag with pockets in just the right places and accessories for all your baby’s needs. I love the style and features of these Timi and Leslie bags. The colors of these stunning diaper bags are perfect for spring. I love the large open top and especially the amazing accessories that are included to match. Who wouldn’t love a clutch purse to match?

6) RaZ-Buddy Ethan Penguin: Although it’s been a long time, it’s hard to forget those miserable teething years. I love that this little teether from RazBaby comes with a plush friend to help comfort baby when they’re not feeling well. It detaches for ease of washing.

7) Treetop Friends Activity Gym: Another awesome interactive toy for baby as they grow is an activity gym. Skip Hop has a great variety of gyms and mats to choose from. This play gym comes with so many interactive toys for baby’s development including a mirror, built in sounds and textures and plush woodland friends who hang from above. The loops make it easy to move the plush friends where baby can reach or bring them along to hang on the car seat or stroller. This also comes with a tummy time pillow which is even more added value.

8) Kiinde Twist Storage and Feeding Starter Kit: I was intrigued to hear about this new Kiindi Twist breast milk collection, storage and feeding system which eliminates much of the hassle of pumping by combining a milk bag and bottle. Say what? No washing of bottles? With this feeding system you’re able to attach the Kiindi Twist bags to any breast pump with their direct to pump adapters (part of the kit and compatible with all major pump brands). Pump into the bag, attach the cap for freezing or the nipple for direct feeding. The bag prevents air/gas for baby and inserts directly into the “bottle” which is simply a case to hold the nipple and bag. No more pouring milk from bag to bottle. I’m excited to try this new system in hopes that baby girl will like it.
