This salted dark chocolate fudge is easy to whip up quickly with just a few ingredients. Have a chocolate craving? Skip the candy thermometer and try this easy microwave fudge. Makes a great addition to holiday baking including Christmas, Valentine’s Day or Easter. Although I think any time is a good time for some fudge, wouldn’t you agree?
Traditional fudge is delicious but also tricky to get right. So many people fail to get their fudge to the right temperature. While this fudge doesn’t have quite that same texture, it is still delicious! This dark chocolate fudge is a great option when you are short on time or don’t want to deal with the stress of making traditional fudge. Want to really step out of the box? Try this cheese fudge!
Dark Chocolate Fudge Ingredients
This fudge recipe requires only a few basic ingredients including:
- semi sweet chocolate chips
- dark chocolate chips
- sweetened condensed milk
- butter
- vanilla extract
- coarse sea salt (optional)
If you don’t have any dark chocolate chips you can use all semi-sweet chocolate chips and you’ll still have a fairly dark chocolate flavor. If you don’t like dark chocolate you could swap out the dark chocolate chips with milk chocolate chips for a less intense flavor.
How to Make Microwave Fudge
To make this dark chocolate fudge in the microwave, add semi sweet chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk and butter to a large microwave save bowl. Melt in microwave for 1 minute. Stir and continue microwaving at 30 second intervals and stirring in between until fully melted. Be careful to not burn your ingredients. Add in vanilla extract and stir until combined.
Add parchment paper or aluminum foil sprayed with cooking spray /lightly greased with butter to a square 8×8 inch baking dish. Pour fudge mixture into a lined baking dish. Sprinkle sea salt to taste over top, if desired. (I recommend letting your fudge cool slightly so your salt doesn’t melt at all like it did for me.)
Refrigerate until firm, approximately two hours. Cut into squares.
You can easily skip the sea salt but my whole family absolutely loved the flavor combination. The salt really helps to cut down on the overall sweetness of the fudge, which can be overwhelming with fudge in general. Add sea salt to other desserts like these stuffed chocolate chip cookies with sea salt. If you have dietary restrictions, try this coconut oil fudge that is vegan, gluten free and dairy free instead.
