We love Elephant & Piggie at my house! We are so excited to partner with Disney-Hyperion on an Elephant & Piggie Party sponsored post to celebrate 10 years of the series!
Reading is very important in our house and part of our nightly routine. My husband and I are avid readers and we’ve definitely passed the same love of books onto our children. One of our favorite children’s authors is Mo Willems, creator of the beloved Elephant & Piggie book series. Did you know that this month marks the 10th anniversary Elephant & Piggie? I threw my kids an Elephant & Piggie Party to celebrate!
Elephant & Piggie Party Decor
I was sent some fun party supplies to really bring our celebration to life with Elephant & Piggie including books for my kids and themed wrapping paper. I couldn’t resist adding some of the wrapping paper to a silver frame to honor the duo.
We also received pink and gray paper lanterns and cutouts to create our own Piggie and Gerald.
Cute, right? You can download this free printable with instructions to create your own Elephant & Piggie lanterns and get some fun activity sheets for your kids or guests.

I kept things simple for a snack and made popcorn and them in fun snack cups.
Elephant & Piggie Party Punch
I used an extra nose cutout to create our very own Piggie Punch, using this pink Strawberry Sherbert Punch Recipe.
The kids loved the Piggie touch on the punch bowl!
We also received some adorable straws with cutouts featuring Mo Willem’s characters.
The kids were quick to notice the small details including the 10 made from Piggie’s dress ribbon and Pigeon being featured on Gerald’s cane.
The punch was a huge hit with the kids, especially my middle son. If you’ve never made a sherbert punch before, you must give it a try at your next celebration!
Elephant & Piggie Party Books
We own several books from the Elephant & Piggie series, but not all of them. I was so happy to see we only owned one of the five books we received already. I wrapped three of the others up so each of the boys could open their very own book and used the others for party decor.
Warren wasted no time reading and was soon finding “Easter eggs” in his book. Mo Willems like to connect his books with characters like The Pigeon appearing in his other books and my boys get excited every time they spot one!
Wesley loves the books from Mo Willems so much that his joy really couldn’t be contained to know he’d have several new ones to enjoy. The Elephant & Piggie book series contains 25 different titles. I chatted with my five year old to come up with our favorites:

The Good for Nothing Button
We also celebrated the newest release in the Elephant and Piggie Like Reading! series, Elephant & Piggie by Charise Mericle Harper that is recommended for ages 4- 8.
Yellow Bird has a button. It does . . . nothing! It is a good for nothing button.
Red Bird and Blue Bird are excited to try the button. But when they press it, they discover that the button makes them happy. Happy is something! A flabbergasted Yellow Bird insists the button does nothing. But it sure does seem to be making him mad. Mad is something!
The hilarious debate that follows takes readers on an emotional roller coaster that pokes at the power of imaginative play.
Wesley loved this book with the button and was quick to press it as often as possible. I’ve now had to move it up to enjoy only when reading, for my own sanity. However, it is such a fun prop to use while enjoying the book.

Our Elephant & Piggie party was a bright spot over our holiday weekend which was mostly filled with rain. Books really are a reason to celebrate anytime.
