Why the Holidays are the Best Time to Be a Kid

Thank you to Gymboree for sponsoring today’s post. All thoughts are my own!

We spend a lot of time outdoors during the holiday season. Even freezing temperatures don’t stop us from enjoying the best aspects of our winter weather. And boy, has winter come early here for us. We’ve had snow on the ground since before Halloween and snow has fallen several times since. It feels like the fall season lasted only one month here because it is definitely winter come early in Northeastern Minnesota.

Some of our favorite holiday traditions include sledding in our backyard or the local golf courses and visiting our local lighting display, Bentleyville.  This “Tour of Lights” is America’s largest free walk through lighting display which means it is pretty spectacular and one thing we never want to miss. But it also means a lot of walking at night and in the cold. They do have fire pits to warm up a bit and roast marshmallows but being bundled up is a must.

Layers are very important here so I let my kids pick out some of their favorite pieces from Gymboree so we could get ready for the colder weather. Our style is all about comfort and clothing they can move in so their selections reflect that!

Lucian picked out this pizza sweater and matching foodie hat, scarf and gloves because pizza is one of his favorite foods. The fleece lined pants and colorblock jacket are perfect for all our outdoor activities.

Warren really wanted a “cool” black vest and this striped puffer vest was just his style. He paired it with a long sleeved waffle tee and black ripstop pants.

Wesley really wanted a vest too so this navy puffer vest with plaid lining was a great fit for him. I love that his lined navy cargo pants match his thermal top perfectly.

Since blue is Wesley’s favorite color, this sweater speckle scarf and matching striped beanie and gloves caught his eye right away.

Since we have snow already, this weekend was a great opportunity to get some fun shots of the boys for our Christmas cards and finish off with our traditional hot cocoa and when coming in from outside. Even our pup got to enjoy some homemade dog biscuits! If you ask them, this is the perfect time of year to be a kid!

What would you choose from Gymboree keep your kids warm this holiday season?

  1. You are completely right. I have a 1 year old and I am so excited for her to enjoy the festivities this year (she will be 2 in January). She already loved Halloween and all the Fall things and will love this even more. I love the Puffer Jacket in Sweet Mint!
