Liquid Chalker Mug Message Project: Good Morning Sunshine!

When I was little my dad would leave my mom a note on the bathroom mirror. I always thought that was such a sweet gesture. Not only was he telling her how much he loved her but he was reminding his children. Years later I found out mom wasn’t always so pleased about his notes, not because of the intention of course. He wrote them in lipstick. Knowing how much beauty products cost and how long it takes to get that curve set to your lips juuuust right I now understand. It still makes me smile thinking about all of the things my dad does to show her that he cares. It got me thinking. What’s another way to write a note to those you love in a non-permanent way that’s just as quick and easy? Have you heard of Liquid Chalkers?
These liquid chalk markers are an option to leave a quick note. Perhaps your husband has coffee in the morning each day. Leave him a note on his favorite coffee mug! Write a note on the mirror for your wife to discover as she’s getting ready for work. Do your kids have an important item to add to their backpack in the morning? Leave a note on a white board or the window of the front door as they leave the house.
These markers also work on chalkboards of course but take my mistake as a strong caution. These do NOT WORK on POROUS SURFACES! I assumed that chalk markers would work on any chalkboard. Boy was I wrong. We have an IKEA children’s chalkboard/white board easel. I didn’t realize that the board was just a chalkboard painted surface over particle board. Eek! It did not come off (see below). We tried a Magic Eraser and most of it came off but it also removed the finish of the board. Bummer. Of course once my daughter had used the markers on the board I was afraid to leave them out for the white board (they worked perfectly on the white board surface and came off easily by wiping).
We do still use our Liquid Chalker markers but under supervision. Just today she used them to color on a wooden craft box she assembled. We used the more permanent nature of the markers on porous surfaces to our advantage and used them more like paint pens.

You can get an 8 pack of Liquid Chalkers on Amazon in bright, bold colors. They have a list price of $29.97 but are considerably cheaper than that right now and have free super saver shipping.

Hmm. We may wait on these for the kids due to they oopsie possibilities! But these are great if handled under the proper care!
Very cute story about your dad and the lipstick! My husband has to leave very early for work most mornings, so these might actually serve a practical purpose for us, as I rarely see the paper notes he leaves me!
I like that they work on mirrors and windows and white boards. A good way to leave loving messages.
I did not know about Liquid Chalker markers. What a great idea! Thanks for the tips and photos!

Stay tuned for a craft tutorial coming in the near future Tanya! I had that idea first and thought the removable concept would be cute to show here.
I luv the liquid chalker! what a nice way to leave a little note or a heart! That’s a cute story about your dad – I guard my lipsticks, so I can’t imagine having to put up with it, though, if I was mom!!!!
