When I heard popular Britian baby brand Mamas & Papas had come out with a line of apparel for babies and young children, I was immediately intrigued. I love their modern style for baby gear and toys and was curious how that would translate into clothing. I was sent several samples in which to see the line up close for my 15 month old, Wesley.
All the pieces we received have a nautical feel, a favorite of mine. I paired the Boys Nautical Cuff Jean ($34.99) with the Safari Jacket ($55.99) last week and got some super fun photos outside with Wes. The jeans have a medium weight to them and have an adjustable waist which is much needed for my little guy. I love all the little nautical details found throughout and the dark wash which makes them feel a bit dressier. These are sized 12-18 months and have a larger fit.
The jacket is lighter weight, perfect for summer. At first I wasn’t sure what to think of all the buttons as I’m really not a fan of them for small children. They take just too much time to fasten for my wiggly guy. I was pleasantly surprised to see that there is also a zipper included so the buttons are entirely optional.
I was sent a jacket in size 12-18 months, the size my son is in now. My son is taller but on the small size for weight at just under 21 pounds. As you can see the sizing is a bit generous so he’ll be able to wear this for a while which I like. Please keep that in mind when ordering.
We also received the 2 Piece Outfit with Suspenders ($59.99). When I opened this up, I just about died from the cute factor. The suspenders made me swoon but unfortunately this outfit is sized 18M-2years and the jeans of course are much too big for him right now. I can’t wait though not only for the suspenders but because the jeans are super light and easy to move in. They are much lighter than the other nautical pair I received. Plus they are oozing with charm with so many little details like distressing, anchor print and badge.
The top has lots of fun little details and is a great staple in any wardrobe as it is easy to dress it up or down. I love the desert map print and blue dip dye effect. The gingham trim to the sleeve cuffs and front pocket is also adorable.
I also received a cute pair of canvas shoes ($26.99). These start at size 0-3 months and go up to 12-18 months. While the website specifically states these are not for walkers, I mistakenly thought that message was there because they are not meant for the outdoors. But because we live in a cooler climate and because our house has a lot of hardwood floors which get cold, I though they would be perfect for keeping Wesley’s feet warm.
Unfortunately that is not the only reason these are made for non-walkers. There is absolutely no traction on the bottom so when I put them on Wes he was slipping and sliding as he tried to walk. They are absolutely adorable, although they did have a slight crease/imperfection on the top. Be sure your child is not even attempting to walk yet for any of the shoes from Mamas & Papas. These will be great though for my nephew!
These do fit true to size and are super easy to get on and off. Unfortunately this particular style is already sold out online but consider these boat shoes instead.
The Mamas & Papas Babywear line is available exclusively on their website. You can find all these styles and more this summer! Follow them via Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date on all the latest product news!
Disclosure: I received samples for the purpose of this post however all thoughts remain my own.
