Ragu Pizza Playdate Party {$150 AMEX GC Giveaway} #MomstheWord CLOSED

The life of a mom can be crazy at times but one of my favorite ways to break up the week at home with the boys is to plan a play date with friends. I get the adult interaction which I always seem to crave and my kids have fun with their friends and are entertained without me for a few hours. Score! Whatever preparation or clean up afterward always is worth it! Last month I planned a lunch with a make-your-own-pizza playdate party featuring Ragu sauce!
I offered the other moms some choices in Ragu sauce and a couple of local grocery store gift cards so they could make a meal or two with Ragu and preferred ingredients for their families.
I sauteed some italian sausage (a favorite in our household) and offered several different toppings including pepperoni, canadian bacon, black olives, mushrooms, pineapple and of course cheese. We used Ragu Pizza Sauce but other Ragu such as Old World Style Traditional sauce would work well. I picked up some fairly inexpensive 8″ round premade pizza crust from Target which kept the work down to a minimum and made for less wait time for the kids to get their pizzas.
The kids loved building their own pizzas with whatever toppings they wished and learned some important lessons about pizza making including limiting the amount of red sauce. (More is not always better!)

Eating a pizza they created themselves made the pizza extra special. And nothing is more fun than eating a great tasting lunch with your friends.
There were a whole lot of giggles at this table which really is like music to my ears. I think these adorable faces say it all!

We usually order pizza on Halloween because making it ourselves would take up some time. When Halloween is on a weekend day, it’s easier to cook and/or bake the goodies.

I think in between thanksgiving and Christmas I would try to make a big lasagna that was as healthy as I could make it. I would use whole grain noodles and low fat cheese and layer in veggies (probably spinach) and have the family over
