What is Pimm’s Cup?
If you aren’t already familiar with Pimm’s liqueur, it has a rich history. It started in 1823 England as a tonic to aid digestion and was served in a No. 1 sized cup, hence the name. From there it grew to several different varieties over the years featuring different bases. The most popular is the No. 1 variety with a gin base. Other varieties were named from No. 2 through No. 6 with scotch whisky, brandy, rum, rye whisky and vodka as the base. Pimm’s No. 1 Cup is widely distributed whereas others are mostly phased out with the exception of No. 6 (vodka) which is in limited production and No. 3 which is based on brandy and now sold as Pimm’s Winter Cup seasonally.
What is in Pimm’s No. 1 Cup?
No one knows exactly what is all in Pimm’s No. 1. It is a secret shared by very few however I’ve heard you can make your own version with gin, sweet vermouth and an orange. However, it isn’t the exact same as Pimm’s No 1. Cup which is made up of spices and citrus.
Sparkling Ice in Punch
Sparkling Ice is an easy way to add a ton of flavor and a little fizz to your cocktails. Sparkling Ice is a lightly carbonated, zero-calorie beverage that combines sparkling water, fruit juice, vitamins, and antioxidants! I’ve worked with Sparkling Ice multiple times, including with this fun holiday cocktail recipe. When they sent me this Pimm’s drink recipe I couldn’t resist sharing it with you. (This is not a sponsored post. Just a fun recipe to share!) The flavors are a great match for the Pimm’s fruity taste!
