Whey Protein Powder with No Artificial Sweeteners

More than a decade ago, my body decided it no longer liked artificial sweeteners. I’ve always been prone to headaches, but I started getting headaches immediately after drinking diet sodas, so I cut them out. Over time, I gained a strong aversion to the taste of any alternative sweeteners.

I’ve tried to ignore the taste to make what I thought were smarter choices to immediate regret. A couple of years ago, I tried my sister-in-law’s homemade brownie that she made for her diabetic husband. Our family was raving about the taste. It was low sugar with an alternative sweetener. I ate three small bites to be polite and felt ill for hours afterward. Since then, I’ve been very diligent about no alternative sweeteners of any kind. Not even natural options like stevia or monk fruit. My body rejects them as well.

Naked Nutrition Whey Protein

I discovered Naked Nutrition last year while browsing Amazon. I struggled to find whey protein powder locally for my post-workout routine that didn’t contain alternative sweetener. What I needed was an easy option for increasing my protein intake, especially after weightlifting. I was thrilled to find Chocolate Naked Whey Protein Powder, which has only three ingredients:

  • Whey Protein Concentrate
  • Organic Coconut Sugar
  • Organic Cacao Powder

Two heaping scoops contain 25 grams of protein, 160 calories, 3 grams of fat, and only 5 grams of sugar. I was delighted.

I typically blend two heaping scoops of Chocolate Naked Whey with a frozen banana, Greek yogurt, a bit of milk, and some ice. The result is a nice, frothy drink with well over 30 grams of protein! It’s the perfect fuel after a tough workout.

I’ve been purchasing that product for a year but recently Naked Nutrition reached out to see if I’d like to share a recipe with their product. I rarely work with sponsors. (It has been a couple of years.) But I feel so passionately about Naked Nutrition. They sent me Strawberry Naked Whey which also has just three ingredients!

I wanted to share a high protein snack or dessert option and decided frozen yogurt would be the perfect summer treat.

Ingredients to make high protein frozen yogurt

Strawberry Frozen Yogurt Ingredients

This frozen Greek yogurt with protein powder only requires a few simple ingredients:

  • Greek yogurt (plain)
  • whey protein powder (strawberry or vanilla protein powder)
  • frozen banana
  • frozen strawberries
  • vanilla extract

The frozen fruit is plenty sweet for me, so I opted for plain Greek yogurt and added no additional sugar. Alternatively, you could use flavored yogurt like strawberry or vanilla Greek yogurt and omit the vanilla extract.

Naked Whey Strawberry Protein Powder

For this recipe, I used Naked Strawberry Whey Protein Powder, which contains the following:

  • Whey Protein Concentrate
  • Organic Coconut Sugar
  • Organic Dried Strawberries

Since it has no additives, you can control everything in your high protein frozen yogurt.

While I made a strawberry frozen yogurt, you can easily substitute your favorite fruits! Other great options include frozen mango, peaches, cherries, or pineapple. The possibilities are endless! If you have fresh fruits, just be sure to wash and freeze them first to achieve a nice creamy texture.

How to Make Protein Frozen Yogurt

Making this frozen Greek yogurt with protein powder is super simple! Start by taking your frozen banana, frozen strawberries, Strawberry Naked Whey protein powder, and some vanilla extract and place them all in your blender or food processor. I like to pulse just until fully blended together.

The result is creamy frozen yogurt, much like soft-serve ice cream. Personally, I love this consistency and recommend eating it right away. If you would like to make it in advance or you prefer a more solid frozen yogurt, you can spread this mixture evenly into a loaf pan, cover with plastic wrap, and freeze.

I froze mine for a couple of days. It does crystalize a bit and needs to sit out to soften. Keep in mind, it won’t scoop precisely like real ice cream.

This high protein frozen yogurt with whey protein powder is a great way to sneak more protein into your day! It is creamy and absolutely delicious!

I’ve made nice cream with just frozen bananas and cherries but this whey protein frozen yogurt recipe is creamier with the addition of Greek yogurt! It has a wonderful flavor and makes the perfect snack for hot summer days. I can’t wait to switch up the fruits for different flavor combos. I want to try strawberry and mango next!

How Much Protein is in Frozen Yogurt?

While the protein content in a typical container of strawberry frozen yogurt can vary based on brand and serving size, the average half-cup serving contains approximately 3 to 4 grams of protein. This recipe for high-protein frozen yogurt however has approximately 13 grams of protein per serving, depending upon exact ingredients used.
