You can’t go wrong with creamy fruit dip at parties or potlucks and this one is one of my favorite classic fruit dips. Offer it your 4th of July picnic, Easter dinner, Mother’s Day brunch, or New Years Eve party! Flavorful and delicious, this fruit dip is amazing when paired with a variety of seasonal fruits or with foods easy to dip like graham crackers, vanilla wafers or pretzels.
A fruit tray with dip is always a big hit at any get-together, including birthday parties or at a baby shower. They are a special treat and refreshing any time of year! It also makes a great option for every day. Consider offering it as one of your after school snacks or in your child’s lunchbox.
Ingredients for Marshmallow Fruit Dip
The following simple ingredients are required to create this easy and delicious fruit dip with marshmallow fluff:
- brick of cream cheese (I used Philadelphia cream cheese)
- jar of marshmallow creme
- splash of orange juice or pineapple juice
- vanilla extract
This easy recipe creates a smooth and sweet fruit dip texture versus a fluffy fruit dip with cool whip. Cream cheese fruit dip recipes are my favorite. If you are looking for a garnish, you can top with a bit of orange zest, brown sugar, fresh mint, chopped nuts, mini chocolate chips or a slice of fruit from your fruit platter.
While I used a jar of marshmallow creme, you can make your own with this post on how to make marshmallow fluff. You’ll need approximate 1 1/4 cup of marshmallow fluff for this recipe.

In a large mixing bowl, add your softened cream cheese, marshmallow crème, orange juice, and splash of vanilla extract and beat with an electric mixer on medium until fully combined. Transfer to a serving dish. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve or serve immediately with your favorite fresh fruits!
What are some good fruits to dip into Marshmallow Fruit Dip?
Wondering what type of fruit to serve with this sweet dip? There are many amazing fruits that work well for dipping into a fruit dip. Here are just a few of my favorites:
- Strawberries: These juicy sweet berries go great with a cream cheese fruit dip. Fresh strawberries are easy to dip.
- Pineapple: The dip’s creamy texture is balanced by the sweet and slightly sour taste of pineapple.
- Grapes: Grapes are a common fruit found on fruit platters, and they come in a variety of colors and flavors. I recommend opting for seedless varieties for easier eating.
- Apples: Apple slices make for a delicious crunch that goes perfectly with the dip’s smooth texture and are widely available year round.
- Berries: You can’t go wrong with fresh berries like blueberries, strawberries, or blackberries. They make great fillers on fruit trays.
- Stone fruits: Any stone fruit such as cherries, peaches or nectarines pair well with a classic marshmallow fruit dip.
- Melon: Melons of any kind, including watermelon, honeydew, and cantaloupe, are a refreshing option!
Deciding which fruit to offer with fruit dip can be based on personal preference, what fruits are in season and what you have currently available. Also consider offering an array of different colors on your platter of fresh fruit for more visual interest.
How to Make the Dip Smooth:
To avoid lumps and bumps in your fruit dip, it is essential to have room temperature cream cheese. If it is too cold, you’ll discover small little clumps of your cream cheese. If you don’t have time to soften your cream cheese to room temperature, unwrap your brick of cream cheese and place on a microwave safe plate. Microwave for around 15 seconds or until softened, being careful not to melt the cream cheese. (Exact time will vary depending upon microwave wattage.)
FAQs about Marshmallow Fruit Dip
Can it be made ahead of time? How long does this fruit dip last?
Dips for fruit typically last up to 4 days in the fridge if stored in an airtight container and can be made a day or two in advance. To serve, simply stir the dip if needed before pairing it with your fruit.
Can fruit dip be frozen?
While a fruit dip prepared with marshmallow creme and cream cheese can be frozen, the texture and consistency may suffer. Because of the high water content of marshmallow creme and cream cheese, the dip can become icy and separate when frozen leading to a grainy or runny texture when defrosted. To store leftover fruit dip, I recommend chilling it in the refrigerator rather than freeze it. This has never been a problem for me as it never lasts long here anyway!
