Air Fryer Baby Red Potato Ingredients

To make these delicious red potatoes in the air fryer, you’ll need just a handful of ingredients:

  • baby red potatoes: (or any small, creamer potato variety including yellow potatoes)
  • olive oil: Less oil is need when air fryer vs. roasting in the oven. A little goes a long way.
  • Italian seasoning: I used a blend of basil, rosemary, majoram, thyme, sage and oregano. If you don’t have this mix handy, you can make a homemade Italian seasoning mix.
  • garlic powder: If you’d rather use fresh, you can substitute 3 to 4 garlic cloves, minced.
  • paprika
  • onion powder
  • sea salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • fresh parsley (optional)

That’s it! Most of these ingredients you can find as staples in your pantry which means you can enjoy these tasty little spuds any time!

Can You Use Other Potato Varieties?

Yes! While I used red potatoes for this recipe, any fingerling or petite potato variety, also known as creamers, would be delicious! I love these new potato varieties which are small and extra soft and tender. I typically use larger potatoes in other ways. I love Yukon Gold for mashed potatoes and potato salad while Russet potatoes work great for potato wedges and potato soup.

How to Make Air Fryer Red Potatoes

You’ll want to start by preheating your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Now it is time to cut your red potatoes. If you have smaller baby red potatoes, cutting them in half should be sufficient. If you have medium red potatoes, you can cut them into quarters. If you have larger red potatoes, you may need to cut them even smaller. It is important to cut potatoes into roughly the same size so are all done cooking at the same time.

Gather your spices. In a small bowl, mix together your garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, sea salt and freshly ground pepper.

Air Frying Potatoes

Now it is time for air frying! Add your potatoes to your air fryer and shake them slightly to evenly spread them out. If you can get them in a single layer, even better! Cook for 6 minutes and then shake your basket. Cook for an additional 6 minutes and toss your potatoes again. Cook for additional 2 to 6 minutes or until potatoes are golden brown and tender. Transfer to a serving bowl.

What to Serve with Roasted Potatoes

Wondering what to eat with with air fryer roasted potatoes? Depending on your preferences and the occasion, you can pair roasted potatoes with a wide variety of dishes. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Meat: Whether you’re serving chicken, beef, or pig, roasted potatoes are a standard accompaniment to your main dish. They would go great with broiled tilapia, sausages or any other type of meat.
  • Vegetables: Pair your roasted potatoes with a side of sauteed green beans, roasted broccoli, baby carrots, or asparagus, or any other roasted or sautéed vegetable.
  • Breakfast or Brunch: These roasted potatoes work great for serving along your favorite breakfast foods including eggs, hash brown casserole, pancakes, bacon, breakfast sausage, ham or waffles.
  • Salads: To counteract the heaviness of the roasted potatoes, serve them with a light, crisp salad. Try a green salad with a light vinaigrette dressing or a protein-packed salad with grilled chicken or fish.
  • Condiments: Roasted potatoes are tasty on their own, but they also pair well with condiments like sour cream and ketchup. You can take it a step further and try dill aioli, or compound butter with fresh herbs.

Leftover Potatoes

Store any leftover potatoes in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 4 days. You can reheat your petite red potatoes by cooking them in the air fryer again for a few minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit to crisp them up again or you can microwave them for quicker heating.

Red Potatoes in the Oven

To make these red potatoes in the oven, I recommend increasing the olive oil to 2 tablespoons and cooking at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 to 25 minutes or until tender and golden brown.
